Born into a Greek family of Fashion Designers Michail Gkinis grew up surrounded by textiles and the creative sound of the sewing machines. In 2006 upon graduating from London College of Fashion, he moved to Japan where he launched his own label APTFORM. Since it’s beginning APTFORM’s signature monochromic palette of various textures has created a recognisable and unique image. The intricate and sensitive use of hand stiching, garment dyeing, washing, bleaching and fabric bonding techniques encapsulate the essence of this innovative collection.
In 2011 Gkinis won Best Prize at the Tokyo New Designer Fashion Grand Prix, and has featured at Japan Fashion week, Rendez- vous New York, Vancouver Fashion Week and many more.
